Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall

Welcome back TTSM families & friends!

Another summer in the books, we hope you all created fun & memorable adventures with your favorite people that will last you until next year! Here are some summer highlights & upcomings this Fall at TTSM.

Our 1st Rock Band Camp Literally Rocked!

In partnership with TDRPD, we set the stage in July & launched our inaugural Rock Band Camp, created & lead by our TTSM Instructors Subra Doyle & Abigail Creighton!

2 sold out weeks of 40 kids from 5-13 years old learning what it means to be in a band. Some never have picked up an instrument, while others are TTSM students who helped keep the beat with their new band mates. Both the younger & older kid groups performed their songs for family & friends at the end of the week, and we couldn't be more proud of all our future rock stars in the making. This is what RB Camp was all about, creating friendships & showing up for each other every day to make the music happen.

We truly loved hearing all the positive feedback from parents, and wanted to share a few here:

Here is another cool part. More than 75 percent of the cost of camp was covered by grant funding! Families paid only a fraction of what it actually costs to run a week of camp. That's what being a nonprofit music school in this community makes possible!

Big shout out to our grant partners National Endowment for the Arts & Tahoe Community Grant, our Rock Band Co-Directors Subra & Abigail, Junior Counselors Clara & Tyndall, and to every family who trusted us with their kids for a week of loud, joyful noise.

Fall Back into Music!

The new school year is here, let's get back into rhythm & find a lesson time that works for you! See which best fits your interests:

Private Lessons. If you were taking lessons last year, now's the time to get your spot back on the schedule. You can log back into the Opus Portal, or reach out to Aileen at info@tahoemusic.net to assist you. If you have a child who wants to try out music with us for the 1st time, click here to sign up for a discounted trial lesson.

Rock Bands. Because of the success of RB Camp, we're launching Rock Bands this fall. Bands for kids, bands for teens, and bands for adults, and all experience levels are welcome. If you or your child wants to be in a band, email us and tell us who you are, age, and what you want to play. We'll build the bands from there!

TTSM Spotlight

Student of the Month: Dylan. Dylan is a TTSM All-Star! She has been taking Ukulele & Voice Lessons with Stephanie since last fall, she fell in love with Uke from taking our Music Foundations class with Evan. Dylan then rocked out in BOTH RB Summer Camps in July, and even did a solo for the crowd at only 6 years old! This girl has spunk, determination, style and music chops. We are so proud of how much progress she has made in her music journey with us, keep on shining bright Dylan!

Instructors of the Month: Abigail & Subra, Co-Directors Rock Band Camp. From creating the program from scratch, designing the logo & t-shirts, to writing the theme song, this was THEIR camp. It took a TTSM village to see their vision through, and it all came together in 5 months!

So much was learned from our 1st summer, we cannot wait to see what RB Camp will look like in 2027. Let's throw up some rock hands for Subra & Abigail!

TTSM in the Wild

You may not know how often you cross paths with our non profit in the community, a lot of the live music you hear around Truckee is powered by our school.

The bands at the West End of Donner Lake on the Fourth of July? That was us. From the Makers Show & Made in Tahoe Spring Festival in May to Tahoe City Wine Walk & Tahoe Joy Festival in June, us too! If you danced salsa to Sonido Sueno at Music in the Park, or been hiking or mountain biking around Northstar over the summer weekends, us again. Just to name a few. All summer long, our musicians have been out playing for you & keeping the mountain music vibes going!

Some of them are our students & instructors on stage, some are gigs we create for local bands. It all comes back to TTSM. By showing up to these events & shows, you are supporting us more than you know!

Introducing Kindermusik this fall for ages 0 to 4, through our partnership with Truckee Donner Recreation and Park District. Go to TDRPD's site here, then navigate to Art > Dance > Music and Tahoe Truckee School of Music, KinderMusik programs. Let's get the littles moving to the music!

New & Upcoming

TTSM is super excited to share that we launched our brand new website at tahoemusic.net in July. It's live and ready to rock & roll. The new Events page is the place to see everything going on, from the weekly music nights to what's ahead:
