Music Brings Us Together

The story of how a local music school became the heart of Tahoe-Truckee's music scene.

Our Mission

At Tahoe Truckee School of Music, music isn't just notes and practice sheets — it's joy, friendship, and transformation.

We're a nonprofit dedicated to making music accessible to everyone in our community. Through 175+ live events annually, affordable lessons, scholarship programs, and free instrument loans, we create spaces where people of all ages and backgrounds can discover the power of playing music together.

Whether you're four years old picking up a ukulele for the first time or sixty-four rediscovering the guitar you put down decades ago, you belong here. We believe music changes lives — and we're here to make that happen for our community.

What We Stand For

Student performing

Accessible

Music is for everyone. We offer scholarships, sliding scale fees, and free instrument loans so financial barriers never keep someone from playing.

Community-Driven

We're more than a school — we're a gathering place. Our 175+ annual events bring musicians and music lovers together to celebrate what we create.

Students playing together

Joyful

Music should be fun. We focus on the experience — playing together, performing, and building friendships that last beyond the lesson.

Meet Our Instructors

Our teachers aren't just skilled musicians — they're mentors, performers, and community members who genuinely care about your growth.

"I've been playing guitar for 40 years but had not been progressing. Ben challenged me to play styles I'd been afraid to attempt."

Rick Mitchell

Adult Student

"My son would have had to stop taking piano lessons without the scholarship program. He even won the high school talent show as a freshman with the skills he learned at TTSM."
